The LCVP (Landing Craft, Vehicle and Personnel) took part in all the major amphibious operations of Second World War II. Its task was to shuttle back and forth between the big ships and the beaches, carrying up to thirty men, light vehicles and anything else that was needed. The LCVP was actually a modification of the Higgins Industries EUREKA boat, and it was the most numerous of WWII famous Higgins Boats in Normandy alone, nearly 1100 of these crafts landed in the American and British sectors. It was these boats that made the D-Day landings at Normandy, Iwo Jima, Guadalcanal, Tarawa and hundreds of lesser-known places possible.
