The T28 Super Heavy Tank was an American experimental vehicle developed during World War II to break through heavily fortified enemy defenses, including the German Siegfried Line. Weighing nearly 100 tons and armed with a powerful 105mm gun, only two prototypes were built before the project was canceled in 1946. Today, the T28 remains one of the largest and most iconic tank prototypes ever developed by the U.S. Army.

The M28A1/A2 Super Assault Tank is a fictional "what-if" development of the American T28 Super Heavy Tank, imagining how the vehicle might have evolved had it entered U.S. Army service after World War II. Rather than a historical production model, it represents a speculative modernization featuring either a 120mm T53 or 155mm T7 main gun—both real weapons that were tested on later American heavy tank projects such as the T30 and T34. The concept retains the T28's massive armor and distinctive four-track layout while envisioning improved firepower and equipment for post-war battlefield operations. Although the M28A1/A2 never existed beyond concept form, it has become a popular alternate-history design among military modelers and armored vehicle enthusiasts.
