Production of anti-tank 76-mm guns ZiS-3 began in December 1941, they appeared in the army in 1942. This gun became the main one in the divisional cannon artillery in 1943. In total, a little less than fifty thousand guns were build during war years. In terms of simplicity, low weight and hight combat qualities, it was one of the best guns of the Second World War. In the post-war period, the ZiS-3 was in service with Soviet Army for a long time, and was also actively exported to a number of countries.
