The Tigers of the 501 Heavy Battalion led several battles against American, British and French forces, including Sidi Bouzid. Sent to Tunisia in November 1942 to bolster Rommel’s army, they inspired “Tiger phobia” in the allied tank crews. Whether in the open desert of the south, or the hills and farms of the north, they were a decisive weapon. These Tigers with their outsize turret numbers, their green “tropical” camouflage and their prototype equipment, have a unique appearance. Dragon has incorporated new research into this model, accurately reproducing the most famous veteran Tigers of the 1st Company.
