1:35 IDF Shot Kal Gimel Type II - Operation Peace for Galilee 1982 - AFV CLUB
The Shot Kal is a modernised Centurion tank with a new powerpack (the Continental AVDS-1790-2A diesel engine and the Allison CD850-6 transmission). The addition "Kal" refers to the abbreviation of the engine manufacturer Continental, originally notated in Hebrew as "שוטקל" and transliterated as "sho'tqal".
The 1982 Lebanon War, dubbed Operation Peace for Galilee by the Israeli government, later known in Israel as the Lebanon War or the First Lebanon War, and known in Lebanon as "the invasion", began on 6 June 1982, when the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) invaded southern Lebanon. The invasion followed a series of attacks and counter-attacks between the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) operating in southern Lebanon and the IDF that had caused civilian casualties on both sides of the border.
