In the summer of 1943, a German tank with a T-34 appearance appeared on the front of Kursk. It had inclined armor which was hard to be penetrated. It was also equipped with a 75mm long barrel tank gun which was more powerful than the one on Tiger I. This tank was called Panther Ausf. D by the Germans. The design of the tank was greatly influenced by the T-34 tank. Later, it became the main force of the German armor unit by replacing the Panzer III and Panzer IV tanks.
